The question is, which infused leather to use for the tabi boots? You're absolutely right that tabi boots are the better option. Now that I think about it, it might actually make more sense to go with infused leather tabi boots, and then add high density foam padding to a set of infused leather rathound armor for a perfect 15% - 15% (nimble) = 0% armor penalty. But would be interested in hearing how other light armor builds work out. My build is currently leaning hard into crits, so it seems to me that infused rathound leather + infused ancient rathound leather boots for the maximum mechanical damage resists for under 15% armor penalty (effectively zero with nimble) is the way to go. Infused leathers, however, give really strong bonuses, like the infused rathound leather's +% crit chance. Also you can install a psi carapace in the tac vest, but if you're going to take that big of a hit of armor penalty, might as well go full metal armor no? bullets means you get a LOT of mileage out of those few extra points of threshold you get from super steel tac vest. On the other hand, tac vest's ability to triple the mechanical threshold vs. Laminated fabric has a better % resistance, and infused leather armor has an EVEN better % resistance, with similar threshold to laminated fabric. This item article is part of Project ItemDex, a Bulbapedia project that aims to write comprehensive articles on all items. When comparing the % / threshold resistances of super steel sheet tac vest to really high quality laminated fabric, it feels a bit lackluster.
